STRIDE SUMMER CAMP

Now Enrolling for 2023 Camp!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be holding our 8th annual camp this year from Monday, August 7th – Friday, August 11th at St Albans School in Washington, DC!

SUMMER 2023 CAMP!

We will continue our partnership with local DC restaurants that donated meals to us in 2020. In addition, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the local non-profit organization Leveling the Playing Field!

To register for our summer camp, please visit our “Register Now” page. We look forward to seeing both new and familiar faces on August 7th, 2023!

As a non-profit camp, we rely entirely on the generosity of the DC community to put on the best possible camp each summer. If you would like to donate to help our cause, please go to our “Donations” page or click the link below. Thank you!

The camp schedule includes a variety of sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, and flag football. Campers and counselors also enjoy games such as knock-out, world cup, and kickball.

Healthy eating and nutritional guidance are integral parts of our program. Campers receive lessons on understanding the importance of nutritional labels, vegetables, hydration, and other topics related to a well-developed diet.

Stride Summer Camp is a DC 501(c)(3) incorporated non-profit summer camp. We provide a fun, safe, and active experience for campers (aged 6-13) for one week every August. Campers enjoy a curriculum that involves a variety of sports, games, and nutritional guidance. The camp is completely free of charge for the families who attend.

Now in its eighth year, our camp is organized and run entirely by DC high school students and is held at St. Albans School in NW Washington, DC.

Our week-long program is designed to keep campers active and engaged during the hot summer days. Supervised transportation is provided to and from the camp every day. Each day, counselors prepare fresh and healthy homemade lunches and snacks for our campers.

Our Impact

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we were unable to run our normal camp in 2020. However, determined to keep supporting the Kenilworth and Mayfair communities in northeast Washington DC, Stride Camp partnered with World Central Kitchen, Jeffrey Wright, and The Grocery Game to support local businesses and provide meals to those in need.

Over the course of the summer, we distributed fresh, packaged meals in addition to masks, hand sanitizer, and water for individuals and families. Thanks to the help of World Central Kitchen, we were able to utilize local restaurants and businesses to create a full-circle benefit for these DC communities while still playing to the theme of our usual summer camp’s nutritional focus.

In the midst of the pandemic and nation-wide social injustice, we wanted to support the communities affected in and around the Kenilworth and Mayfair areas. We were proud to support both the local restaurant industry and our STRIDE camp community during these tough times.

We held a series of three different events throughout the summer and ended up distributing 875 meals in addition to raising over $9,000 for restaurants local to the Kenilworth/ward 7 area! None of this would have been possible without the generosity and support from all of our donors, so thank you! Please help us continue these efforts every summer by donating at the link below or click on the wusa9 logo to see our story covered on local news!

Given the success of this effort, we will now be hosting this program in the winter months.
